CD-ROM drive reads CD-ROM inaccurately due to resource conflict.
Cause:
Hardware resource conflict is interfering with the CD-ROM drive performance.
Solution:
Open the 'Device Manager', and select the CD-ROM driver. Change the resource setting causing the conflict for the CD-ROM drive to unassigned resource value, and restart Windows 95.
1) Open the 'Device Manager' and select the 'View devices by type' radio button.
2) Double-click on 'CD-ROM' in the list box.
3) Double-click on the CD-ROM drivers. (The CD-ROM driver 'Properties' dialog box appears.)
4) Click the 'General' tab and view the 'Device Status' group to determine what device is conflicting with CD-ROM drive controller and which resource value is in conflict.
5) Double-click on the device type in the list box conflicting with the CD-ROM drive.
6) Double-click on the driver for the device type conflicting with the CD-ROM drive . (The device driver 'Properties' dialog box appears.)
7) Click on the 'Resources' tab, and, if the 'Use automatic settings' check box is selected, clear it.
8) Select the resource in the 'Resource settings' list box, and click 'Change Setting...'.
9) Select a new value from the list of available unassigned resources in the pull down list box, and click 'OK'.
NOTE 1: If the 'No Modifications Allowed' message box appears, this resource cannot be changed.
NOTE 2: If the device is not plug-and-play, you will have to set the resources using hardware jumpers before the resource value can be changed.
10) Restart Windows 95 for the change to take effect.
